Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Supervisor to join our team at Sparrow Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, leading by example, and requiring safety awareness of all direct reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor plant operations, including safety, quality, environmental, and production areas.
  • Review operational control policies and procedures, update current standards, and communicate with affected departments and employees.
  • Manage hourly employee schedules, job assignments, and performance.
  • Monitor process operations to maximize production rates while meeting quality targets.
  • Ensure that production department tools and equipment are in good working condition and that adequate stocks of consumables are maintained.
  • Ensure completion of required documentation, such as shift logs, check-off lists, equipment inspection forms, and safety meetings.
  • Supervise contractors and third-party services, including refractory removal and installation, mechanical or electrical maintenance as needed.
  • Assign housekeeping duties and maintain plant areas as required.
Qualifications
  • This position requires knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through a bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, electrical, industrial engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • This position requires a minimum of three to five years of production experience in heavy industry or manufacturing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Thorough knowledge of the kiln operating system.
  2. General knowledge of the inner workings of heavy industrial equipment.
  3. Computer literacy skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  4. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  5. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  6. Ability to interpret drawings and use the required tools.
  7. Ability to speak and write English.
  8. Ability to effectively lead a team.
  9. Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
  10. Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and chemical systems.
