About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at NV5. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, administering, and designing mechanical HVAC, energy, and plumbing projects for commercial, industrial, educational, and governmental buildings.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, administer, and design mechanical HVAC, energy, and plumbing projects.
  • Review work for the application of sound professional judgment and code compliance.
  • Establish and maintain client relationships; ensure client satisfaction; ensure client objectives are met.
  • Responsible for marketing, writing proposals, winning work, maintaining and developing key client relationships.
  • Participate in client-rich professional organizations and functions.
  • Train and mentor young professionals.
  • Perform design and energy calculations and prepare equipment or material specifications.
  • Familiar with the AE design process and specifications leading to construction documents.
  • Prepare graphical representations of designs.
  • Assignments require the investigation of a limited number of variables and supervisory assistance is provided on unusual problems.
  • May supervise or coordinate the work of designers and other technical support personnel.
About the Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of mechanical engineering experience with a background in HVAC, plumbing, controls, and energy design.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience managing tasks, and small projects.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical design and construction standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design of commercial, industrial, educational, and governmental buildings, small industrial plants and warehouses, central chilled water and heating plants.
  • Working knowledge of applicable mechanical, plumbing and energy design codes.
  • Experience in leading mechanical design team thru project.
  • Project Management experience a plus.
