Job Summary

Earth Orgins Market is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Deli Assistant Manager to oversee the operations of our Deli and Bakery departments. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our customers, preparing and maintaining our bakery display case, and ensuring that our work areas are clean and ready to service customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide responsive and exceptional service to customers by answering questions, making recommendations, and responding to requests.
  • Prepare grab-n-go food items such as sandwiches, wraps, and salads.
  • Prepare and maintain the bakery display case, including preparation of products like muffins, cookies, pies, and scones.
  • Train and coach department staff members on recipe execution, merchandising standards, and best-in-class customer service.
  • Stock, rotate, and merchandise prepared deli cases.
  • Update displays, cases, and other customer-facing areas to ensure all items and promotions are appealing and appetizing.
  • Ensure that work areas are ready to service customers by cleaning surfaces, equipment, and floors, removing trash, and confirming that tools are in working order.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures established by the company and other regulatory agencies.
  • Responsible for ordering product for all assigned departments to maintain stock.
  • Responsible for inventory control, including out of stocks, back stock, and shrink.
  • Must have open availability and be willing to perform Manager-on-Duty responsibilities such as opening and closing.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Minimum 6 months of customer service experience
  • Deli counter or food preparation experience is required
  • Ability to operate equipment, ovens, blenders, scales, cash registers, etc.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and math skills
  • Ability to comprehend and follow all company procedures and regulations regarding food handling and sanitation
  • A courteous and efficient approach to handling customer requests, questions, and complaints
  • A Food Safety Manager Certification is required within the first 60 days of employment

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand throughout shift
  • Ability to lift items above head
  • Ability to stoop, bend, and lift items
