About the Role

The City and County of San Francisco is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Community Development Specialist I to join the Treasure Island Development Authority (TIDA) team. As a key member of the TIDA team, you will play a critical role in supporting the equitable development of Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island.

Key Responsibilities
  • Community Engagement and Outreach
    • Develop and implement community engagement strategies to ensure that the needs and concerns of Treasure Island residents are addressed.
    • Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, including residents, community organizations, and local businesses.
    • Facilitate community meetings and focus groups to gather input and feedback on development projects.
  • Equity and Inclusion
    • Develop and implement strategies to promote equity and inclusion in development projects, including affordable housing, community facilities, and public spaces.
    • Collaborate with City agencies, community organizations, and stakeholders to identify and address equity gaps in development projects.
    • Develop and implement metrics to measure the effectiveness of equity and inclusion strategies.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
    • Develop and implement communication strategies to engage stakeholders, including residents, community organizations, and local businesses.
    • Prepare and disseminate reports, presentations, and other materials to stakeholders.
    • Represent TIDA at community meetings, public hearings, and other events.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field, such as community development, urban planning, or public administration.
    • Three years of administrative/professional experience in community development, housing development, workforce development, finance, education, social work, children/youth work, or criminal justice.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Ability to build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders.
    • Knowledge of community development principles and practices.

  • Language Skills
    • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Community Development Experience
    • Experience working with community-based organizations and stakeholders.
