Job Title: Litigation Paralegal

We are seeking a highly skilled Litigation Paralegal to join our practice in our Berkeley office. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting our attorneys in the preparation and presentation of cases.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review legal documents, including pleadings, correspondence, and other filings.
  • Assist in the preparation of legal memoranda, including state, federal, and appellate pleadings, and apply Blue book rules.
  • Gather and organize facts, documents, exhibits, and evidence to support legal actions, discovery, or motion practice.
  • Assist with discovery requests and responses, conduct document searches, and coordinate document productions.
  • Maintain and search databases to support case preparation and research.
  • Work with clients and class members to gather and convey information.
  • Prepare materials for oral arguments, depositions, mediations, and trial.
  • Organize exhibits, witness materials, and prepare trial notebooks and supporting documents.
  • Perform administrative functions, including maintaining a paperless office, performing word processing functions, and filing, e-filing, service, and mailing of pleadings and documents.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate preferred with minimum 3-5 years' experience as a litigation paralegal.
  • Strong understanding of complex legal concepts and terminology.
  • Knowledge of state/federal/appellate court rules and procedures, and the skills to find and understand those in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ability to perform legal research using LexisNexis or Westlaw.
  • Ability to draft pleadings and discovery.
  • Strong working knowledge of advanced functions of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and other litigation support applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage highly confidential information with professionalism and integrity.
