Job Summary:

The Biologics Medication Coordinator is a Medical Assistant who plays a crucial role in coordinating all matters involving biologics medications. This includes managing inventory of samples and tracking medications allocated to specific patients. The Biologics Medication Coordinator works closely with providers, particularly those focusing on patients with eczema and psoriasis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Efficiently complete all paperwork required to expedite the approval process for biologics medications.
  • Navigate complexities with insurance companies and pharmacies to obtain prior authorizations quickly and appeal decisions as needed.
  • Collaborate with specialty pharmacies to ensure quick turnaround times for patients.
  • Stay up-to-date with manufacturer recommendations, formulary changes, claim denials, and relevant information regarding biologics medications.
  • Provide detailed and accurate patient education.
  • Support administrative tasks related to study initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with staff in other offices to ensure adequate sample supplies.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in a medical office.
  • Understanding of prior authorizations and the steps needed to obtain them.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD10 codes, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Proficiency in using computer programs and applications, especially word processing and EMR.
  • Meticulous documentation skills and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships.
Working Conditions:

The Biologics Medication Coordinator must be able to work in an office environment, sit at a desk for extended periods, and work on a computer for most of the workday. Physical demands include occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds.

Security Level:

High (Low, Medium, or High) - This position requires access to sensitive Protected Health Information (PHI) to perform essential responsibilities.

Due to the unique operational needs of our clinics, employees may be required to work in different sites. A valid and unrestricted driver's license is necessary for this role, and mileage reimbursement will be provided according to our policy.
