Crisis Response Nurse

Job SummaryThis role involves providing medical and psychiatric care to youth in crisis, working closely with our multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive support. As a Crisis Response Nurse, you will be responsible for implementing nursing processes, conducting medical and psychiatric screenings, and coordinating pediatric medical treatment.
Responsibilities- Assist the staff RN and Psychiatrist in implementing nursing processes and medical treatment plans.
- Conduct medical and psychiatric screenings for youth in crisis, identifying potential dangers to themselves or others.
- Coordinate and oversee pediatric medical treatment, including crisis response and de-escalation techniques.
- Admit and discharge youth, completing health assessments and monitoring physiological status.
- Implement systems of care delivery for pediatric nursing and medical activities, including pharmacological care.
- Schedule medical, dental, and laboratory appointments, considering medical requirements and service schedules.
- Follow MD orders, oversee medication administration, and maintain medical and psychiatric records.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, providing education to staff, parents, and youth on health, safety, and psychiatric issues.
- Be available on-call to respond to special needs of youth, including psychiatric emergencies.
- Exercise judgment in recognizing basic symptoms indicative of adverse medication reactions and consult with supervisor or medical staff as needed.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Completion of a prescribed course of study and training in a school accredited by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians of the State of California.
- One year of clinical experience in a related field.
- Ability to remain physically fit enough to keep clients safe, including the ability to move quickly, run, and drive a car.
