Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant to join our team at 124 Advocate Condell Medical Center. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our nursing staff in the Telemetry unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Registered Nurses with daily patient care activities, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation.
  • Measure and document patient data, such as blood pressures, temperatures, and intake/output.
  • Perform purposeful rounding and promptly communicate patient observations and needs to Registered Nurses.
  • Participate in admission, transfer, and discharge processes, including room setup and patient orientation.
  • Collect and process patient specimens, and perform point-of-care testing as needed.
  • Complete various errands and tasks, such as delivering trays and charts, and maintaining nursing area stock.
  • Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, utilizing proper technique and assistive devices.
  • Support patients with nutritional needs, including diet review and tray setup.
  • Maintain skin integrity and ensure special patient supplies and appliances are provided and maintained.
  • Practice infection prevention policies and procedures, including hand hygiene and sterile/aseptic techniques.
Requirements
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 45 days.
  • Nurse Aide certification in good standing with the State Registry.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with ability to set priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, push/pull with 30 pounds of force, and perform a sliding transfer of 150 pounds with assistance.
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, with exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards, as well as blood and body fluids. Protective clothing must be worn as necessary.
