Job Title: Enterprise Data Steward

Job Description:

The Enterprise Data Steward will apply business acumen and technical expertise to develop tools that drive data-driven decisions, report on program performance, and build efficiencies into daily work products and processes. This role will develop recommendations and maintain documentation for improvements to existing data, systems, and system configuration, and provide technical assistance for developed applications to all end users.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Proactively identify problem areas and facilitate collaborative problem-solving processes to achieve a solution consistent with regulations and policies.
  • Demonstrate ability to deal effectively with ambiguity and gather critical facts of a situation.
  • Negotiate, mediate, settle disputes equitably, and handle difficult situations diplomatically.
  • Manage complex changes and implement programs, policies, procedures, and long-range goals.
  • Lead teams with diverse backgrounds to successful results.
  • Develop and manage large data sets and integrate data from different sources and across different platforms.
  • Apply logic and reasoning to identify and analyze problem areas and recommend various solutions consistent with applicable regulations and policies.


Requirements:
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with ambiguity and gather critical facts of a situation.
  • Skill in working with business and financial information systems.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft software with a focus on Access and Excel.
  • Proven ability to lead teams with diverse backgrounds to successful results.
  • Skill in oral and written communication to build effective relationships.


Additional Considerations:
  • Knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations and policies.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in research and evaluation principles, practices, and procedures as well as working with business leaders and users of business processes to capture processes and identify issues and solutions.
  • Knowledge of transportation planning, project development, and finance.
  • Experience working with large data sets. Experience working in teams to solve complex problems. Experience defining a business need, identifying a solution, implementing the solution, and monitoring performance.


Skills:
  • Developing and managing large data sets and integrating data from different sources and across different platforms.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture, in particular, business and data architecture development and management.
  • Engineering business process improvement resulting in streamlined and effective processes with a mind towards automated solutions.
  • Leading, delegating, motivating, and obtaining desired results.
  • Work with business units to assess complex business functions and processes.
  • Theory and principles of database development, data management, business process improvement, and performance management.
