Job Overview: We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to contribute to our operations at the Davenport Works, recognized as the largest aluminum rolling mill in the U.S. In this pivotal role within our Plate Finishing Department, you will deliver electrical engineering expertise that supports our production, maintenance, and engineering divisions. Your contributions will significantly influence the efficiency, output, and quality of our operations, ensuring that our electrical systems are effectively integrated with manufacturing processes and that our equipment is consistently upgraded and maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all stages of assigned electrical engineering projects, from initial concept through to completion, which includes scope development, specification writing, bid solicitation, design, manufacturing, equipment commissioning, and project closure.
  • Facilitate and engage in problem-solving initiatives with multidisciplinary teams, including technical staff, maintenance, and production personnel.
  • Utilize PI Vision and Data Link to investigate process issues and contribute to effective solutions.
  • Design and implement electrical control solutions aimed at process enhancements and improved equipment reliability.
  • Support production and maintenance teams in resolving equipment and process challenges.
  • Redesign and upgrade PLC/HMI controls and existing processes as necessary.
  • Install and troubleshoot camera systems on industrial machinery.
  • Mentor team members to enhance their understanding of equipment and processes as required.
  • Provide off-hours support as needed.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (must be completed at the time of employment).
  • At least 1 internship, co-op, or relevant work experience in electrical engineering.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available).
  • This position requires U.S. person status as defined by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly with PLCs, HMIs, AC/DC drives and motors, measuring devices, and Ethernet cameras.
  • Proficiency with Rockwell programming software (e.g., RSLogix, Factory View).
  • 3+ years of experience leading electrical projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Project programs.

Ideal Candidate:

  • 1+ year of experience in aluminum rolling/casting outside of internship/co-op roles.
