Job Description Summary

As a Field Service Engineer at BD, you will be responsible for installing, servicing, and maintaining medical devices at customer sites. This is a field-based customer-facing role that requires strong technical skills and excellent communication abilities.

Job Description

We are a leading global medical technology company, and our Field Service Engineers play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical devices. As a Field Service Engineer, you will work closely with our customers to understand their needs and provide timely and effective solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Install, service, and maintain medical devices at customer sites
  • Provide on-site customer repairs and troubleshoot system failures
  • Handle company assets, including company cars, tools, and inventory parts
  • Establish and develop positive business relationships with customers and peers
  • Perform administrative duties, including recording time worked and expense reporting
  • Provide ongoing feedback to customers regarding instrument repair and status
  • Interact regularly with the Technical Support organization to provide high-level customer support

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; associate degree in electrical, mechanical, or similar engineering preferred
  • 4 years of proven electrical/mechanical experience or military experience
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work in individually and team settings
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 50%

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 30-40 lb. objects from the floor to chest level
  • Ability to turn manual sockets, crescent wrenches, and screwdrivers repeatedly
  • Ability to sit, kneel, squat, bend, and stand repeatedly
  • Ability to push and pull objects weighing up to 70 lbs
  • Ability to perform fine motor tasks while reaching
