Job Title: Field Test Engineer

  • Job Type: Full-time - Exempt
  • Workplace Type: Hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)

About the Role:

As a Field Test Engineer at SEB Professional North America, you will be responsible for managing in-field testing projects for equipment improvements, new product releases, and key account tests. Your scope includes successfully executing against internal and customer KPIs and communicating field learnings and user feedback to the Technical Product and Technical Sales teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation, Monitoring, and Decommissioning: Responsible for installing, monitoring, reviewing, and decommissioning field test equipment, including hardware and software updates, in partnership with the Technical Product and Technical Sales team.
  • Site Visits: Regularly visit testing sites on a defined schedule for on-site review of hardware/software performance and user experience, focusing on optimization of overall equipment performance and adherence to customer requirements.
  • Equipment Updates: Manages consistent and timely updating of equipment in test (hardware and software) to ensure customer feedback is gathered utilizing current platform improvements.
  • Repair and Escalation: Executes in-field repairs of test equipment as needed or in partnership with locally trained service partners, acting as a first point of escalation for service partners if required.
  • Analysis and Reporting: Provides analysis and reports of test units at defined intervals and after field visits to ensure equipment is meeting and exceeding expected KPIs in various testing environments and issues are addressed with correct priority levels.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborates with Technical Product Managers for planning and executing local lab testing related to customer feedback or found issues from field visits.
  • Hybrid Work Environment: Maintains a hybrid presence in Irvine or Montebello offices in regular intervals when not in the field for feedback sessions, lab testing of identified equipment topics, and equipment training with technical teams.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Becomes a Subject Matter Expert for equipment, acting as a technical resource and final local escalation point for multiple departments within the greater organization regarding technical issues or requests.
  • Technical Training: Supports Product Service Managers with technical training to Service, Support, and Training teams.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 3-5+ years as a field technician, technical support agent, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with electrical/hydraulic/mechanical systems and troubleshooting, technical certifications or similar experience welcome.
  • Communication and Analytical Skills: Proven analytical troubleshooting skills for technical issues, experience communicating data analysis results and lab testing summaries.
  • Technical Fluency: Ability to understand and utilize technical drawings for electrical and hydraulic systems for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Documentation Management: Ability to manage structured documentation and records for key interactions and observations while in the field.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in the Food and Beverage Equipment industry, coffee, and/or hot dispensed beverages a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, Walking, and Manual Dexterity: Standing, walking, and manual dexterity.
  • Lifting: Ability to lift up to 50lbs occasionally.
