BluePearl Veterinary Emergency Services is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to lead our Emergency Room (ER) team. As the Head of ER Services, you will collaborate closely with our ER clinicians, specialists, and leadership team to ensure the highest quality of care for our patients.
The ideal candidate will possess a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution, have completed an internship, and bring a minimum of three years of emergency room experience. Previous leadership experience is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the scheduling of all ER clinicians, including managing paid time off requests.
2. Organize and facilitate regular meetings for ER clinicians and actively participate in hospital leadership discussions.
3. Provide mentorship to ER clinicians and new ER/ICU support staff.
4. Supervise case management for ER clinicians, offering guidance on complex case decisions.
5. Ensure seamless integration between emergency and specialty services for effective management of hospitalized cases.
As the ER Service Head, you will serve as a liaison between ER and Specialty Clinicians, addressing any concerns with the Medical Director promptly. You will also assist in implementing and monitoring patient safety protocols within the emergency department.
Your role will involve actively participating in the recruitment of new emergency clinicians, ensuring that new hires are assigned mentors to support their integration and retention.
Additionally, you will assist in resolving customer service issues and collaborate with management to enhance client service levels. Working alongside hospital leadership, you will identify opportunities for improvement in ER patient care and medical protocols.
Stay informed about hospital operations and collaborate with the Medical Director and leadership on all ER/ICU personnel matters. You will also assist with performance evaluations and address client and referring veterinarian concerns as necessary.
