About the Role

Sierra Donor Services is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate In-House Organ Recovery Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organ procurement organization, you will play a critical role in facilitating the lifesaving gift of organ transplantation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate Patient Suitability: Review medical records and consult with medical staff to determine patient suitability for organ donation.
  • Coordinate Organ Placement: Work with transplant programs and surgeons to coordinate organ placement and allocation.
  • Surgical Recovery: Coordinate and assist in the surgical recovery of organs and peri-operative management, including logistics such as arranging transportation and preparing lab specimens for shipment.
  • Donor Family Support: Provide support to donor families and conduct medical/social history interviews.
  • Donation Metrics and Protocols: Partner with hospital leadership to improve donation metrics, protocols, and policy, and participate in committees to influence donation opportunities.
  • Hospital Education: Develop and present hospital educational programs and status reports based on strategic goals.
  • Donor Information Management: Update donor information into electronic medical records.
Requirements
  • Two plus years of prior experience in a critical care setting.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and multitask.
  • Exceptional teamwork, interpersonal, communication, and conflict management skills.
  • Registered Nursing (RN) License.
  • Valid Driver's License with the ability to pass MVR underwriting requirements.
