Job Overview

This position performs a variety of clerical duties while maintaining the skills necessary to observe and interpret central cardiac monitors. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain proficient knowledge of computer applications specific to the unit, including census management and accurate document scanning.
  • Stay up-to-date on the function and operation of equipment specific to the role on the unit.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, relaying accurate and complete information while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Take an active role in maintaining patient satisfaction by responding promptly to call lights and phones, and providing way-finding assistance.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations, including Code Blue, Rapid Response Team, fire, and Special Alert.
  • Perform computer downtime procedures according to unit/TriHealth guidelines.
  • Support organizational and unit changes, acknowledging the need for self-growth and accountability.
Responsibilities of the Monitor Reader
  • Accurately observe and interpret central cardiac monitors.
  • Be aware of the location of all monitored patients during the shift.
  • Accurately maintain the cardiac monitor log with strips, intervals, and interpretations at designated times.
  • Recognize emergency rhythms and notify appropriate personnel.
  • Document any changes per unit standard.
  • Maintain alarms at all times and review alarms immediately, prioritizing cardiac monitoring.
Working Conditions

This role requires occasional climbing, consistent concentration, and continuous learning. The ideal candidate will be able to hear conversations and other sounds, and will have excellent interpersonal communication skills.
