Overview:
The Parts Logistics Specialist plays a crucial role in the Parts Department by ensuring the effective procurement and distribution of components to support operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. This position is vital for achieving organizational profitability and service delivery goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Parts Manager, the Parts Logistics Specialist is tasked with overseeing the acquisition of job-specific components and the distribution of materials.
- Procures parts for contractual commitments, estimated projects, and urgent requests.
- Collaborates with the Parts Administrator to monitor all purchases and manage the receipt of items into the central warehouse.
- Generates purchase orders for the Parts Department and assists in the creation of orders for other departments as needed.
- Maintains updated system notes and work statuses to reflect the current order fulfillment progress.
- Oversees the distribution process, coordinating with Operations team members to ensure timely fulfillment and delivery of orders, including the management of remote locker and warehouse schedules.
- Examines parts and materials prepared for distribution, working alongside the Parts Administrator and logistics team to guarantee accuracy and completeness.
- Assists the Parts Manager in maintaining inventory control and accurate records in the electronic database.
- Participates in scheduled cycle counts and comprehensive warehouse inventories to verify recorded part quantities.
- Provides support to technicians, Service Sales team, and other Operations members with inquiries regarding parts, including identification and cross-referencing.
- Collaborates with the Parts Manager to explore alternative vendors and negotiate services, programs, and pricing to optimize costs and enhance logistical capabilities.
- Analyzes inventory, aging, and purchasing reports to inform decision-making.
- Works closely with the Accounting department for purchasing approvals and inventory assessments.
- Offers backup support to the Parts Administrator during peak periods.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Essential Skills:
- Preferred electromechanical aptitude.
- Proficient in using electronic systems for purchasing, receiving, and inventory management.
- Applies foundational skills and procedures relevant to the role.
- Adheres to standard operating procedures and demonstrates attention to detail.
- Skilled in MS Office applications and comfortable with database systems.
- Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Excellent administrative skills: analytical, organized, and strong communication abilities.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma is required.
- A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in purchasing and receiving parts or a related field is required.
- Experience in inventory management is advantageous.
- Relevant experience in automotive parts, industrial machinery, commercial HVAC/refrigeration, or similar fields is highly desirable.
