Aircraft Mechanic Job Description

LTA Research and Exploration is seeking an experienced Aircraft Mechanic to join our team. As an Aircraft Mechanic, you will play a critical role in the integration of various subsystems on our research and development flight vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and plan systems integration activities on the flight vehicle, ensuring all work is conducted in accordance with engineering data, manufacturer's publications, and FAA guidelines.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain airship subsystems, including fuel, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Provide feedback to engineering on installation plans and lead small teams during the systems integration process.
  • Use engineering and mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and systems schematics to complete work in the absence of manufacturer's maintenance publications.
  • Maintain all airship maintenance records in accordance with current FAA regulations.
  • Participate in line maintenance activities during flight operations and manage spare parts, consumable inventories, and tool control.
  • Maintain all airship maintenance equipment, hydraulic power packs, maintenance platforms, and any additional equipment used to support the airship.
Qualifications:
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant license.
  • 10+ years of aircraft maintenance experience with a concentration in Systems Integration on advanced research and development flight vehicles.
  • Subsystem troubleshooting and maintenance experience on fuel, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficient in using engineering and mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and systems schematics to complete work in the absence of manufacturer's maintenance publications.
  • Previous experience managing installation teams.
  • Compliant with all environmental health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in using calibrated tools, calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, and other hand tools.
  • Proficient in operating man lifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and maintenance platforms.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Sheets) and other basic technology.
  • Ability to obtain a DOT driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • FAA Inspection Authorization (IA).
  • Capable of lifting and transporting up to 50 pounds.
  • Capable of sitting or standing for long periods of time.
  • 200 lbs weight limit on the structure for the upper sections of the airship.

The base range for this role is $30-50/hr, which is determined based on experience, geography, and qualifications. The base salary is one component of the total compensation package, which includes a very competitive annual bonus, 401K Match, and other generous benefits.
