Position Overview: Roy Jorgensen Associates, Inc. is actively seeking a full-time Vehicle Maintenance Technician to conduct maintenance operations across multiple locations. This role is both technical and skilled, focusing on the inspection, servicing, and repair of company-owned equipment, including dump trucks, snowplows, heavy machinery, and vehicles, both in the workshop and on-site. The technician is expected to have experience in servicing and performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on fleet vehicles (ranging from 1⁄2 to 1 ton) and off-road machinery, all while adhering to safety, efficiency, quality, and client-focused standards. Compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, along with Jorgensen Company policies and procedures, is mandatory.

Salary:
$31-$45/hr based on licenses, certifications, training, and experience.

Schedule:
  • Full-time; Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • Availability to work during adverse weather conditions is required.
Required Experience:
2-5 years of repair and maintenance experience with various automotive and mechanical equipment.

Preferred Experience:
Experience as a heavy equipment/diesel technician
Knowledge of hydraulic systems is preferred
Vocational training and/or technical certification or equivalent
CDL preferred

A clean driving record is essential.
Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions to meet manufacturer specifications, including engines, transmissions, clutches, suspension, steering, fuel and ignition systems (both gas and diesel), electrical systems, brakes, HVAC systems, and emergency roadside repairs in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conduct necessary inspections and preventive maintenance on fleet trucks, trailers, mid-size trucks, and heavy equipment to enhance safety, productivity, and longevity.
  • Perform repairs on vehicles and equipment within the workshop and in the field as directed.
  • Safely manage roadside repairs to ensure company equipment is promptly returned to operational status.
  • Oversee the scheduling and execution of all routine service maintenance for the fleet.
  • Effectively organize work to optimize productivity and meet deadlines.
  • Safely utilize hand and power tools required for each task, maintaining them to extend their lifespan.
  • Adhere to safety and security protocols, reporting unsafe conditions and incidents immediately, while demonstrating safe practices at all times.
  • Safely operate company-owned vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as necessary.
  • Be prepared to collaborate with technicians during adverse weather conditions.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Vocational or Technical certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with:
    • Dual propane fuel systems preferred, but not mandatory.
    • Repair and maintenance of roadway equipment.
    • Vehicle and small engine repair and maintenance.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, and comprehension).
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Meet company standards for background checks (criminal record, driving record, and substance testing).
  • Familiarity with local driving regulations.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic functions.
  • Maintain appropriate safety equipment for each task.
  • Present a neat and professional appearance.
  • Adaptability to new technologies.
  • Proficient in using smartphones and applications.
  • Ability to adjust to changing work schedules and multitask.
