Job Summary

The MD Anderson Center is seeking a skilled Clinical Research Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing patients for protocol eligibility, coordinating, evaluating, and following patient participation in clinical trials. This includes collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to monitor and evaluate patient and family response to treatment protocols or research studies. The ideal candidate will have prior research experience and a strong understanding of clinical research activities, including data collection and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluates patient response to treatment and grades toxicities and adverse treatment reactions
Reports treatment responses, toxicities, and adverse treatment reactions to protocol/research sponsors and the Institutional Review Board (IRB)
Provides quality patient care in relation to patient prescribed diagnosis, treatment, age group, development, and other identified needs
Identifies and provides patient and family educational needs regarding treatment management, evaluation, and follow-up on clinical trials and research protocols

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing
One year of registered nursing experience
Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN) and Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification

Preferred Qualifications

Prior Research Nurse experience
Prior clinical experience in Oncology setting
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area
