The role is critical in reducing disciplinary incidents and helping students develop the skills necessary for conflict resolution, self-regulation, and positive peer interactions.

Primary Responsibilities:

Restorative Practices:

  • Lead the implementation of Restorative Practices throughout the school to build a culture of community and accountability.
  • Facilitate restorative circles, mediation sessions, and conferences to help students resolve conflicts and repair harm.
  • Provide training and coaching to staff on the principles and techniques of restorative practices.

  • Ensure that interventions at each tier (Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3) are tailored to students' specific needs, with a focus on prevention, targeted support, and intensive interventions.
  • Monitor and adjust intervention plans based on student progress data to ensure effectiveness and address ongoing challenges.
  • Work with students to help them understand and improve their behaviors through positive reinforcement, conflict resolution strategies, and social-emotional learning (SEL) techniques.
  • Conduct one-on-one or small group sessions with students needing additional behavioral support.
  • Collaborate with teachers to create and implement proactive classroom management strategies that promote positive behavior.

Collaboration with Staff and Families:

  • Serve as a key member of the school's student support team, collaborating with teachers, school counselors, and administrators to address students' behavioral needs.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to staff on the progress of individual students and overall behavior trends within the school.
  • Collaborate with families to provide insights and strategies for reinforcing positive behavior at home.
  • Support the Culture and Climate Team:
    • Work alongside the Culture and Climate team to support the implementation of action steps that align with school-wide goals for improving behavior and promoting a positive school culture.
    • Crisis Intervention and De-escalation:
      • Respond to behavioral crises and de-escalate situations as they arise.
      • Implement crisis intervention strategies and support students in processing difficult emotions and incidents.
      • Work closely with school counselors and mental health professionals to ensure students receive appropriate care.
    • Data Collection and Progress Monitoring:
      • Track and document student behavior incidents, interventions, and outcomes.
      • Use data to assess the effectiveness of behavior plans and restorative interventions and make recommendations for adjustments.
      • Participate in the development of school-wide behavioral goals and initiatives.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.

Experience:

2+ years of experience working with elementary-aged children in an educational or behavioral support role.

Previous experience with Restorative Practices is required, including facilitating restorative circles, peer mediation, and conflict resolution.

Familiarity with Social Emotional Learning (SEL) frameworks and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:

Preferred Qualifications:
