Position Overview

Summary:

The selected candidate will collaborate with external legal counsel to evaluate the research referenced by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) in its framework concerning sulfate standards for the preservation of wild rice. This role entails a thorough comparison of the research conducted since the suspension of the MPCA's wild rice rule-making in 2018, alongside previously cited studies from that process. The ideal candidate will also engage in comparing this research with other peer-reviewed literature on the topic and undertake additional tasks as directed by external counsel.

Work Arrangement:

This is a part-time, temporary role with an expected commitment of up to 15 hours per week, lasting for a maximum of six months.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental policy, natural resources management, or a related discipline, or 20 years of relevant experience in environmental review and permitting projects in Minnesota.
  • In-depth knowledge of Minnesota's Wild Rice Rules and the associated rule-making process.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory framework of Minnesota's environmental agencies.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the capacity for technical document review and consultative communication with team members and clients.
  • Adaptability in work style and readiness to adjust personal schedules to meet project deadlines and client requirements.
  • Strong self-motivation, initiative, and a focus on client service.
  • Willingness to travel and work remotely on a limited basis as necessary.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.

Work Flexibility:

A hybrid work arrangement may be available, allowing for a combination of office and remote work.
