Job Title: Building Operating Engineer

The Building Operating Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing equipment within the facility. This includes ventilation systems, pumps, belts, filters, light plumbing, electronic controls, valves, fire protection systems, building automation systems, humidification systems, and rooftop units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical and HVAC equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Monitor and control building automation systems to maintain a comfortable and healthy indoor environment.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless operation of facilities and equipment.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of related mechanical maintenance experience or post-secondary technical training in lieu of work experience.
  • Experience operating within a Preventative Maintenance (PM) program and proficiency in building automation systems.
  • Strong knowledge of best practices for troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of building mechanical and plumbing equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on safety and quality.
