The Transportation Supervisor is a key member of the Supply Chain Operations team at Kirkland's, responsible for overseeing the transportation and logistics functions to ensure efficient and cost-effective delivery of goods to our stores.
Key Responsibilities- Transportation Management: Supervise and assign responsibilities for transportation and shipping personnel, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods.
- Carrier Selection and Routing: Responsible for selecting and managing carriers for domestic less than truck loads, full truck loads, intermodal freight, and small parcel carriers, ensuring optimal routing and cost savings.
- Freight Audit and Claims: Audit and settle transportation freight bills, and manage carrier claims and settlements to minimize losses.
- Route Planning and Optimization: Coordinate with DC partners to optimize trailer efficiency, ensuring maximum capacity utilization and internal/external customer satisfaction.
- Logistics Operations: Responsible for route planning associated with new store openings/closings, route consolidation, and peak planning to ensure seamless logistics operations.
- Carrier Rate Management: Maintain and manage carrier rate files to ensure accurate and up-to-date pricing.
- Transportation Reporting: Audit and input carrier freight invoices into spreadsheets for accurate tracking and analysis.
- Process Development and Maintenance: Participate in the development and maintenance of corporate transportation and logistics management standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Team Collaboration: Communicate transportation information to team members, cross-train as necessary, and demonstrate a commitment to Kirkland's values.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in Transportation Operations.
- Education: High school education required; college degree preferred.
- Skills: Expert level proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to remain composed during multitasking.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with FMCSA rules and regulations, attention to detail, analytical thinking, and business acumen.
- Travel and Work Environment: Ability to travel and work at a desk for extended periods.
