About the Role

Samsung SDS America is seeking a highly skilled Logistics Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our Smart Logistics (SL) business, you will play a critical role in providing legal support and guidance to our stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Claims Resolution: Provide legal advice and support for the resolution of logistics claims, including those arising from warehouse operations and transportation.
  • Contract Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts related to global supply chain and logistics services, including 3PL, 4PL transportation and warehousing, import/export, and customs.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to our SL business, identifying legislative and regulatory changes and recommending appropriate action.
  • Internal Communication: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including SL Legal & Compliance and business stakeholders, to provide timely and accurate legal support.
  • External Communication: Communicate with external parties, including insurance brokers, carriers, third-party administrators, and legal counsel.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Develop and distribute key reports and analyses, including claim reports and ad hoc reports for management.
  • Training and Development: Deliver training and training materials to the business on key legal areas.
Requirements
  • Active Bar License: Must be an active member of the Texas bar in good standing.
  • Relevant Experience: At least 6 years' relevant legal working experience, particularly in trucks/trailers, cargo/freight damages, property damages, maritime claims, disputes, and insurance.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Organizational Skills: Extremely organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask and collaborate across different time zones.
  • Customer Service Skills: Strong customer service and people skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a sense of urgency.
