We invite applications for the position of Logistics Lead, where you will be responsible for overseeing intricate international shipping processes, particularly imports from the United States to Latin America. The ideal applicant will have extensive knowledge of the oil and gas sector, particularly in managing packaged units and spare parts. This position demands outstanding organizational and analytical capabilities, a strong grasp of Incoterms, and the ability to negotiate effective shipping solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete import process from the United States to Latin America, ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of packaged units and spare parts for oil and gas operations.
- Design and execute detailed logistics strategies for remote sites, focusing on cargo consolidation to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of INCOTERMS and their relevance to international shipping, effectively managing risks and ensuring adherence to contractual agreements.
- Skillfully manage the packaging of equipment for maritime shipping, complying with industry standards and regulations.
- Assess and choose the best maritime routes and cargo carriers based on cost, transit duration, and reliability.
- Conduct thorough inspections of loads and packing lists, identifying potential discrepancies and taking corrective measures.
- Establish and nurture strong partnerships with transportation providers to secure advantageous rates and service quality.
- Prepare precise cost projections for both domestic and international logistics activities, identifying potential areas for cost savings.
- Track and evaluate logistics performance indicators to pinpoint improvement opportunities and implement process optimizations.
- Ensure adherence to all pertinent customs regulations, import/export documentation, and trade compliance standards.
- Lead and mentor logistics team members, promoting a collaborative and high-performance work culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in international logistics, with a focus on imports from the US to Latin America.
- Demonstrated expertise in the oil and gas industry, particularly in handling packaged units and spare parts.
- Thorough understanding of Incoterms and their practical applications.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet stringent deadlines.
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in logistics software and systems.
- A dynamic individual with a willingness to travel.
- Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese is advantageous but not mandatory.
