About the Role:
Epinoma is seeking a dedicated scientist to play a pivotal role in our research and development initiatives. Our focus is on the design and creation of innovative DNA-binding proteins that can identify unique epigenetic markers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conceptualize, design, and produce protein libraries.
2. Collaborate with team members to develop biochemical assays for evaluating protein libraries in both diagnostic and therapeutic contexts.
3. Lead and implement process development to enhance protein expression across various scales.
4. Author technical documentation, including reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technology transfer documents; contribute to the scientific documentation for patent applications and support both internal and external presentations/publications of new technologies.
5. Oversee laboratory operations, including the management of lab equipment and the enhancement of lab capabilities through operational analysis and capital management.
6. Facilitate the acquisition of new laboratory equipment by assessing needs and drafting proposals.
7. Mentor and supervise junior team members in laboratory practices.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in protein engineering, molecular biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, biotechnology, or related disciplines.
- Proven experience in designing and executing protein engineering techniques, including rational design and directed evolution.
- Familiarity with recombinant protein expression and purification methods.
- A strong eagerness to learn new methodologies and a collaborative spirit to thrive in a dynamic startup environment.
- Recommended experience in characterizing protein-DNA interactions (e.g., EMSA, Fluorescent polarization, SPR, etc.).
- Previous exposure to epigenetics and mammalian cell protein expression and purification is advantageous.
- Knowledge of statistical design of experiments and data analysis using statistical software is preferred.
