Job Overview

Spee-Dee Delivery Service, Inc is seeking a skilled and customer-focused Route Driver to join our team. As a Route Driver, you will be responsible for delivering and picking up freight in a timely manner, ensuring excellent customer service and maintaining a safe and clean vehicle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver and pick up freight from customers and shippers, adhering to company standards and regulations
  • Inspect and report any mechanical issues with the vehicle, ensuring timely repairs and minimizing downtime
  • Load the truck efficiently to maximize space and prevent damage to packages
  • Collect payments for certain packages delivered, maintaining accurate records and resolving any discrepancies
  • Verify the content of pickups on shipping papers, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Notify management of any problems or issues, providing timely updates and solutions
  • Maintain a professional appearance and cleanliness of the vehicle, adhering to company standards
  • Assist other drivers and operations personnel with duties as needed, promoting a collaborative and supportive work environment
Requirements
  • At least 21 years of age and hold a valid Driver's License
  • A good driving record that meets company standards
  • Ability to operate a manual transmission, or have the willingness to learn
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical exam, ensuring fitness for duty
  • Ability to bend, lift, twist, climb stairs, and move freight weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to work with various types of freight, including hazardous materials, perishable food, and live animals
  • Possess excellent customer service skills and work independently, with minimal supervision
Benefits
  • Competitive hourly wage, ranging from $20.00 to $24.00 per hour, based on experience
  • Opportunities for overtime, with paid time and a half after 40 hours per week
  • Voluntary overtime on weekends, as needed
