Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Global Engineering Extrusion Innovation team. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for designing and developing new equipment for our internal extrusion process platforms. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive equipment development projects through all stages of the process, from conceptualization to commissioning and hand-off.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and implement new technologies to improve automation, rate, yield, safety, quality, service, and cost metrics.
  • Develop and implement automated/touchless manufacturing solutions and work on identified Transformation Projects within our supply chain organization.
  • Partner with technicians, process engineers, scientists, and manufacturing personnel to ensure project success and company growth.
  • Apply strong technical skills to all facets of projects, including budgeting, planning, and solution development, equipment specification, design, and startup.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout development and effectively interface with internal and external customers.
  • Develop automation solutions to optimize plant floor operations, including process and material flow.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies that can be incorporated into existing processes to improve yield, increase throughput, and/or reduce cost.
  • Create and review 3D CAD designs and 2D drawings.
  • Conduct hands-on testing of prototype equipment.
Requirements
  • Minimum B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant product or equipment design and development experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet technical challenges with creative and innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to take projects from concept to commissioning and hand-off.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and mechanical design abilities, particularly in industrial equipment design.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD Design (SolidWorks experience preferred) and SolidWorks PDM.
  • Experience with industrial pneumatics systems design is a plus.
  • Experience and familiarity with controls/automation systems is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team, generating results with general/minimal guidance from management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a work ethic that corresponds with SEE's core values.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%.
