The Pharmacy Technician at Care Alliance plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our pharmacy services. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional customer service to patients and assist pharmacists with dispensing medication in a timely and accurate manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and process prescription and refill requests, verifying all necessary information is available and correct on electronic or written prescriptions and entering these details into our pharmacy database.
- Accurately label and package prescription bottles and containers, maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock levels, anticipating needed medications and supplies, and expediting orders to ensure timely delivery.
- Store prescriptions properly to ensure they are safe for use and meet required quality standards.
- Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy environment by adhering to procedures, rules, and regulations, protecting patients and employees from infection-control risks.
- Organize medications for pharmacists to dispense, reading medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, calculating quantities, and assembling intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies.
- Answer prescription-related questions and educate patients on the appropriate use of medication, including frequency and method of intake or application, and refer patients to pharmacists for more in-depth medical questions.
- Process insurance claims, determining patient insurance company information, verifying coverage, running medications through patient insurance, and updating insurance coverage in our pharmacy system.
Requirements
- High School Graduate
- Pharmacy Technician Certificate
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Pharmacy Technician
- Customer service experience
- Experience operating a cash register
