Pharmacy Technician Inpatient Specialist

Job Summary:

The Inpatient Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacists in providing pharmacy services at the Cleveland Clinic. This role is responsible for packaging, preparation, and distribution of medications, inventory control, customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation: Accurately and timely prepare medications, including selection, labeling, repackaging, non-sterile compounding, and sterile compounding.
  • Distribution: Accurately and timely deliver medications to the appropriate storage area, maintaining accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies.
  • Inventory Management: Accurately and timely complete assigned inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Communicate effectively with other caregivers and patients, demonstrating emotional control and intelligence in managing work relationships.
  • Technology: Appropriately use information systems, technology, and automation to complete assigned tasks.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program preferred.
  • Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy is required upon hire.
  • Candidate must be eligible for Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is preferred at time of hire.

Work Experience:

  • Six months of hospital experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching, and sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding tasks.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
