Job Title: Pharmacy Technician - Prior Authorization Specialist
Job Description:
We are seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to remotely work with our team. This individual will be responsible for reviewing prior authorizations and sending them to pharmacy services for determination. The technician will also respond to client inquiries, refer requests for specialty drugs, contact providers for additional information, and notify stakeholders of decision outcomes. The role involves obtaining verbal authorizations and requesting detailed clinical information from prescribers. The technician will also notify physicians, providers, and members of coverage determination request decisions.
Responsibilities:
Approve or deny prior authorizations and send to pharmacists for final review.
Handle all health plans and medications.
May handle some inbound calls - little phone work.
Track coverage determination requests.
Obtain verbal authorizations, approve requests based on criteria.
Enter decisions into the PBM system, and notify providers and members.
Notify physicians, providers, and members of coverage determination request decisions.
Requirements:
Registered pharmacy technician license.
Nationally certified technician.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong computer skills.
Work Environment:
This is a fully remote position. The shift could fall between Monday-Friday 7am-7pm in your time zone, with rotating weekends and occasional holidays. Overtime is not required but occasionally offered.
