At Columbus State Community College, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Excellence Specialist to join our team. This is a part-time position with a maximum of 12 contact hours per week.

Compensation Details:

  • Salary: $55.88 per contact hour
  • Contact Hour: Two hours equal one contact hour
  • Hours: Maximum of 12 contact hours per week

Job Description:

About the Role:

The Adjunct Professor will provide quality instruction and maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom, focusing on teaching, supporting, and evaluating students. The incumbent must demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask while engaging large groups of people with complex material.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Teach assigned courses as scheduled, designing curriculum that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion, and fosters talent in students.
  2. Participate in the identification of students with academic or other needs and respond by utilizing an appropriate resource.
  3. Maintain accurate attendance records, submit grades timely, and communicate progress feedback to students throughout the semester.
  4. Distribute and maintain accurate syllabi that incorporate departmental, college, cross-college, and instructor requirements.
  5. Engage in periodic meetings with the department, Lead Instructor, and Chairperson relative to teaching duties and professional development.
Student Engagement & Advisement:
  1. Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge, student and faculty interaction, and support for learners.
  2. Encourage a sense of community among students for learning both inside and outside the classroom.

  1. Help ensure the College meets its responsibilities in identifying areas of opportunity and systemic concerns while reporting complaints alleging discrimination.
  2. Create a welcoming, inclusive, equitable, and productive work and learning environment where all students, faculty members, and college employees feel valued and can contribute to their full potential.
Requirements:
  • A Master's Degree and relevant teaching experience are required.
  • A State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to the work site is also necessary.
