Job Overview

DEPARTMENT: Maintenance

REPORTS TO: Works under the supervision of the Maintenance Superintendent and Maintenance Foreman.

SUPERVISION: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities but entails a greater level of accountability when collaborating with Class B maintenance personnel and laborers.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The role involves the upkeep and repair of all machinery and facilities within the jurisdiction of the District.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of combined experience in the following trades: Carpentry, Heating & Cooling, Plumbing/Pipefitting, Electrical/Electronics, Mechanical, and Welding. Applicants must demonstrate journeyman-level or above average proficiency in Welding, Mechanical, and Plumbing/Pipefitting. Specific trade skills may be necessary for each job opening. A strong mechanical aptitude is essential. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, exhibit a friendly demeanor, follow instructions, and work collaboratively. Assessments may be conducted to identify candidates with the highest potential for growth. Vision correction of 20/40 is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Examine, test, troubleshoot, and diagnose equipment failures.
  2. Rebuild or replace pumps, motors, and valves.
  3. Service and repair vehicles and portable machinery.
  4. Service and repair electronic devices.
  5. Maintain and repair buildings and grounds.
  6. Replace or repair piping and valves.
  7. Keep maintenance tools organized and clean for efficient operation.
  8. Perform painting or cleaning tasks as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position operates within the treatment plant, which presents certain hazards. The individual must be capable of inspecting plant equipment and facilities. Availability for emergency call-ins 24/7 is expected. As a public servant, the individual is required to exhibit appropriate public conduct.
