Job Overview

Chant Engineering, a leading engineering company, is seeking a skilled Buyer/Purchasing Agent to join our team. This is an in-office position that requires a minimum of 5 years' experience in purchasing and procurement.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual who can thrive in an environment that allows for independent work and growth within a team. They will be responsible for sourcing new and existing items, processing purchase orders, and maintaining supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Source and procure materials, components, and equipment to meet production needs.
  • Process purchase orders, requisitions, and requests for quotes for mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.
  • Expedite deliveries and resolve supplier discrepancies.
  • Evaluate product data sheets for material substitutions and cost reduction activities.
  • Maintain inventory levels and report discrepancies to the Materials Manager.
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding order status and quality issues.
  • Review daily receiving logs and update supplier performance assessments.
  • Issue quarterly performance reports to suppliers.
  • Work with the engineering department on BOM changes.
  • Coordinate product returns and restocking fees.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of the purchasing process and procurement software.
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD schematics, blueprints, and drawings.
  • Proficient in data management with Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • 2 years' experience with an ERP or MRP system.
  • Excellent math, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
