Job Description:

As a Power Plant Operator, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and proper operation of assigned power plants and processes from the control room.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor plant SCADA data and telemetry, responding to alarms, communication, and telemetry issues.
  • Generate work orders when defects or adverse symptoms occur.
  • Collaborate with onsite plant operations and interconnect entities to coordinate activities and interaction with scheduling, marketing, and reporting.
  • Record and maintain control room records, including logs, reading sheets, and pertinent data.
  • Provide technical assistance in equipment diagnosis and problem-solving.
  • Create work orders, close, and audit work orders while prioritizing work.
  • Oversee equipment LOTO, confined space permits, and switching control.
  • Communicate with scheduling coordinators regarding outages, testing scheduling, telemetry issues, and production.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's or technical degree; relevant certification or equivalent work experience.
  • Three or more years of power plant operation experience, including full competency in outside operator job duties and distributed control systems experience.
  • Knowledge of personal computer software applications, including spreadsheet, word processing, and database.
Requirements:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence accurately.
  • Ability to speak effectively and use acceptable telephone and radio etiquette.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
