This role is a critical part of our safety management system, ensuring that our maintenance operations meet the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage investigation programs for incidents or events involving Breeze Airways personnel or aircraft, evaluating and reviewing incident/accident investigations and trend analysis of safety information.
  • Partner with the Maintenance division to ensure a robust closed-loop process for employee safety reporting.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance division leaders to analyze safety performance risk and ensure effective visibility to mitigation efforts.
  • Lead the Safety Risk Assessment (SRA) process for Breeze Airways maintenance and cross-divisional workgroups.
  • Track and trend all maintenance-related OSHA events and reports, providing mitigation strategies.
  • Manage Regionalized Safety Programs/Committees for maintenance operations.
  • Review and analyze maintenance delays, cancellations, and Continuing Analysis and Surveillance (CAS) data to identify adverse trends and make recommendations.
  • Represent the safety division at the Maintenance Continuing Analysis and Surveillance (CAS) meeting with safety trends and performance updates.
  • Perform Hangar and Maintenance Line Safety Audits, as assigned, and report findings and recommendations to the Manager Operational Safety and Maintenance leadership.
  • Manage the Maintenance Safety Promotion and Communication program, including safety bulletins, safety newsletters, front-line awareness of occurrences, events, and trends.
  • Assist the Safety Department in the readiness of the Breeze Airways Emergency Response Program.
  • Participate in/facilitate/represent the safety division at various meetings, including the Safety Review Board (SRB), Aircraft Ground Damage Review Board (AGDRB), Weekly Safety Review (WSR), and Employee Injury Review Board (EIRB) meetings.
  • Maintain proficiency in accident and incident investigative techniques, photographic documentation, and technical skills, human factors continuing education, safety research, and investigation analysis.
Requirements:
  • 4 years of airline maintenance experience with large commercial or military aircraft.
  • A Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.
  • Bachelor's degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Breeze Airways safety standards and safe operation practices, or equivalent safety experience within the airline or transportation industry.
  • Demonstrated experience with Safety Management System (SMS) concepts, including facilitation of Safety Risk Management (SRM) processes and risk assessments.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct investigations, including interviewing, fact-finding, and root cause analysis.
  • Effective communication skills, including verbal, written, and listening.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience developing policy and procedures and implementing changes within the operation.
  • A minimum of 2 years of safety program experience.
  • Attended a recognized university safety degree-producing program or comprehensive safety certificate program from the U.S. Government, U.S. Armed Forces, or other recognized organization.
  • Experience presenting and analyzing safety data, including trend analysis and decision-making from event and investigation reports.
  • OSHA experience and training.
