Job Overview
The Fairfax County Government is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Recreation Program Supervisor to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and diverse environment, overseeing the planning and implementation of recreation programs for the community.

As a Recreation Program Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing the daily operations of our recreation centers, including supervising staff, coordinating programs, and ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of recreation centers, including supervising staff and coordinating programs.
  • Develop and implement new programs, services, and initiatives to meet the needs of the community.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and standards, including those related to accessibility and safety.
  • Collaborate with community members, local government officials, and other stakeholders to develop and implement programs and services.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff, including providing training and development opportunities.
  • Develop and manage budgets, including forecasting and reporting.
  • Ensure effective communication and customer service, including responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation and Park Management, Therapeutic Recreation, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in park management or multi-faceted recreation center management, including supervisory experience.
  • Experience planning, developing, managing, and evaluating revenue-generating youth programs.
  • Knowledge of financial management controls, including accounting and budgeting.
  • Ability to motivate, supervise, and evaluate staff, and to develop and implement staff training programs.
  • Ability to analyze programs and procedures, and to evaluate their performance against established objectives.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise financial, administrative, and operational reports.
  • Ability to use a personal computer, applicable software, and peripheral equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with private businesses under contract to deliver recreation programs.
  • Experience developing and implementing training plans.
  • Experience managing full-time and seasonal direct staff reports.
  • Some coursework or degree in Recreation, Child Care, or a related field.
  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Office Suite software and RecDynamics, or a similar online registration management system.
Certificates and Licenses Required
  • Driver's License (Required)
  • CPR/First Aid (Required)
  • MAT Certification (Required within 3 months)
Necessary Special Requirements
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.

Physical Requirements
Work is generally sedentary but may require extended periods of standing. Work performed in a center environment and in various community-based settings. Must communicate with others. Employee may be required to lift up to 20 pounds. All duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
