We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Ambulatory Care Technician to join our team at Rutgers University's Department of Pediatrics. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide medical assistance to nurses and physicians in the overall care of patients, including technical procedures such as phlebotomy and intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the care of patients under the direct supervision of the Physician/APN and in collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Assure smooth and efficient patient flow and clinical operation in close partnership with the healthcare and management team.
  • Participate in staff meetings by providing constructive input and facilitating problem-solving.
  • Schedule patient appointments, including outside physicians and hospital/ancillary services.
  • Greet patients and answer telephones, take messages and relay messages to appropriate personnel.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and verify patient insurance benefits and obtain precertification (if needed) for services to be provided within grant policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Graduation of a post-secondary medical assisting education program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Current certification from the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), or registration from the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in well woman health/family planning and STI/HIV care and treatment preferred.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • At least one (1) year of related experience in an adolescent/gyn medical office setting preferred.
