Job Summary:
United Musculoskeletal Partners is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to provide exceptional patient care support to our licensed providers. As a Medical Assistant, you will serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers, ensuring seamless communication and efficient care delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for visits by directing them to the examining or X-ray room, providing gowns and drapes, and assisting with proper positioning for examinations and treatments.
- Interview patients, record medical histories, and order x-rays as directed by providers or protocols.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations, including tasks such as dressing changes, vital sign taking, and preparing medications.
- Generate orders for prescriptions, diagnostic imaging, and rehabilitation therapy as directed by providers.
- Schedule follow-up appointments, tests, and procedures with designated providers or facilities.
- Coordinate all aspects of surgery scheduling, including obtaining medical clearances, precertifications, and consents.
- Reconcile patient health history information at visits, update relevant information, and scan documentation into the EMR system.
- Triage patient correspondence, document it in the EMR system, and advise patients on provider plans of action.
- Maintain exam rooms, including stocking supplies, cleaning, and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent, with current Basic Life Support (CPR, BLS) certification.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or Certified Orthopedic Tech preferred.
- Two years of orthopedic experience or three years of medical office experience preferred.
Working Conditions:
The work environment is typical of a physician practice, with occasional exposure to risk of infectious diseases when interacting with patients and/or family members.
