POSITION TITLE: Pool Cashier DIVISION: Recreation


SUPERVISOR: Pool Manager/Assistant Pool Manager/Recreation Coordinator

ROLE SUMMARY

The Pool Cashier plays a vital role in managing financial transactions, maintaining records, engaging with community members, performing basic arithmetic, and analyzing data while ensuring a positive experience for all patrons.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurately collect entry fees from pool visitors during shifts.
  • Prepare financial reports and manage daily cash deposits.
  • Reconcile financial records on a daily basis.
  • Track pool attendance for special groups, including camps and community organizations.
  • Address inquiries and requests from the public efficiently.
  • Assist with routine maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the facility, including the pool deck, locker rooms, and surrounding areas.
  • Foster a respectful environment among pool users and guests.
  • Maintain a courteous demeanor with the public at all times.
  • Operate a cash register proficiently.
  • May be required to undertake additional duties related to the daily operations of the department.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to complete a city application and successfully pass an oral interview.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Effective communication abilities with the public.
  • Availability to work during days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Willingness to work on the 4th of July for the city-wide Independence Day Celebration.
  • Physical capability to perform assigned duties.
  • Basic math skills for accurate cash handling.
  • Good judgment in enforcing pool regulations.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with community members and staff of all ages.
  • Capability to work effectively under direct supervision.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions from supervisors.
  • Skill in providing clear instructions to pool patrons.
  • Experience in supervising and serving diverse age groups, from youth to seniors.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

  • Current American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certifications (available through the City of Oak Park).
  • Experience in customer service roles.
  • Training in conflict resolution techniques.
  • Experience engaging with teenagers and various age demographics, as well as the general public.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

COMPENSATION: This is a temporary/seasonal position with an hourly minimum rate of $15.00, with consideration given to experience.
