Position Overview

The Culinary Service Associate I (CSAI) plays a crucial role in upholding kitchen safety and cleanliness standards. Responsibilities include washing dishes, sanitizing equipment, and maintaining work areas. The CSAI is also tasked with preparing meal trays, delivering food carts, and providing support during special events and catering functions. Adherence to sanitation regulations as outlined by Title 22, Joint Commission, and OSHA is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Dish and Equipment Cleaning – 60%

  • Utilizes a high-temperature dishwashing machine for cleaning dishes.
  • Employs a three-compartment sink for pots and pans sanitation.

Meal Tray Preparation and Delivery – 20%

  • Assembles hot beverages, cereals, and soups on patient trays.
  • Assists in loading trays into food carts.
  • Delivers carts to patient areas and retrieves them as per schedule.
  • Provides late meal trays to the diet clerk.

Sanitation and Safety Practices – 15%

  • Conducts sweeping and mopping of floors.
  • Disposes of trash appropriately.
  • Sanitizes food carts after each meal service.
  • Records dish machine temperatures and sanitizer levels for pot/pan sinks.
  • Follows the weekend cleaning schedule for equipment.

Additional Duties – 5%

  • May assist in the setup and breakdown of luncheons, catering, and special events.
  • Performs other assigned tasks as necessary.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, privacy, and safety for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Availability to work various shifts as needed.
  • Possession of a Fire Card.

Preferred:

  • High school diploma or equivalent educational background.
  • Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment.
  • One year of experience in food service is preferred.
