Position Overview:

This role is responsible for overseeing teams within the Item Processing and Deposit Services sectors. The manager will lead a team of 15 or more full-time employees, or fewer if the role encompasses a variety of complex functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations and strategic initiatives of one or more units within Item Processing and Deposit Services, ensuring adherence to quality standards as per organizational policies and compliance regulations.
  • Guide and supervise the activities of assigned personnel to ensure compliance with all internal policies and external regulations, thereby minimizing risks associated with non-compliance.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and training to team members.
  • Compile and present monthly performance data for unit activities to facilitate management decision-making.
  • Engage regularly with management to discuss and align on business objectives relevant to the managed units.
  • Continuously assess unit processes and policies, approving necessary modifications to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure established service levels are maintained within the unit and address any escalations to meet business expectations.
  • Exercise managerial authority regarding staffing decisions, performance evaluations, promotions, salary recommendations, and terminations.
  • Comprehend and comply with the company's risk management and regulatory standards, implementing and enhancing internal controls to mitigate ongoing risks.
  • Foster a diverse and inclusive workplace that reflects the values of M&T Bank.
  • Uphold internal control standards, ensuring timely resolution of audit findings and regulatory issues.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Scope of Responsibilities:

This position entails comprehensive managerial responsibilities for directing the daily functions of a unit within the Banking Services Department. Depending on the specific unit, the role may require specialized technical knowledge due to the complexity and breadth of functions involved. The manager operates with a high degree of independence in overseeing unit activities and associated risk management.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of 7 years of combined higher education and relevant professional experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.

Exceptional customer service abilities.

Experience in exercising tact and diplomacy.

Proficient in relevant software applications, including spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree.

Experience in call center operations or financial services.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Thorough understanding of departmental systems, documentation, and procedures.

Proven ability to motivate teams and resolve conflicts effectively.
