Job Summary

The Dining Services Operations Manager is responsible for assisting the Director of Dining Services with the overall management of the dining service department. This includes overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and procedures, and leading by example to maintain a high level of quality in food preparation and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Department Operations: Assist the Director of Dining Services with overseeing the daily operations of the dining service department, including the kitchen, dish room, food storage areas, and dining rooms.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to state regulations, current best practices, policies, and procedures for food preparation and meal service.
  • Staff Supervision: Ensure all Dining Services staff members are adhering to department policies and procedures for food handling, preparation, and service.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor department food and non-food item inventory consistent with resident needs and the weekly menu cycle.
  • Communication: Provide regular communication to the Director and/or Administrator regarding food service operations.
  • Audits and Performance Improvement: Conduct routine audits and monitor performance improvement initiatives related to food service at the direction of the Director of Dining Services or the Administrator.
  • Meetings and Training: Attend, and actively participate in, staff meetings, required in-service programs, and other meetings/programs deemed appropriate by the Administrator or Director of Nutritional Services.
  • Job Functions: Perform job functions of each subordinate department position when necessary.
  • Leadership: Act as Director of Dining Services in his/her absence.
  • Resident Interaction: Regularly interact and communicate with residents/family members regarding meal service.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Maintain a working knowledge of federal regulations of the State Department of Health code and rules and regulations regarding meal service in the post-acute care setting.
  • Food Preparation and Service: Ensure proper preparation, maintenance, and service of food in accordance with state rules and regulations.
  • Training and Development: Act as a preceptor for food service students and interns, assist with training of new and current department staff, and conduct in-service programs for dietary and facility staff upon request.
  • Performance Feedback: Provide feedback to the Director and Administrator on the work performance of Dining Services staff members.
  • Electronic Timekeeping: Utilize electronic timekeeping system as directed.
  • Attendance and Dress Code: Arrive to work on time, regularly, and work as scheduled, and recognize and follow the dress code of the facility including wearing name tag at all times.
  • Electronic Devices: Follow policy and procedure regarding all electronic devices, computers, tablets, etc.
  • Company Policies: Support and abide by Elderwoods Mission, Vision, and Values, and abide by Elderwoods businesses code of conduct, compliance and HIPAA policies.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, management staff or Administrator.
