Job Summary

The Culinary Institute of America is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Special Events Associate to join our team. As a Special Events Associate, you will be responsible for ensuring that all guests receive a positive experience at our events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Anticipate and meet the needs of guests to provide exceptional service.
  • Function as a bartender at events, using standardized recipes and maintaining a strong knowledge of food and beverages.
  • Maintain control and timing throughout the event to ensure a high-quality guest experience.
  • Conduct physical inventory of storage areas, order supplies as needed, and rotate stock.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, and complete setup and breakdown tasks as assigned.
  • Ensure that each table is maintained during the dining experience according to standard.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Six (6) months of service experience in a restaurant, hotel, or resort.
  • TIPS responsible alcohol service certification, or equivalent, or ability to obtain within thirty (30) days from hire date.
  • A valid ServSafe Food Handler card, or ability to obtain within thirty (30) days from hire date.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Service or hospitality industry experience preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work at both locations of the CIA California Campus (Copia in Napa, CA and Greystone in St. Helena, CA).
  • Ability to stand and work for extended periods of time during customary service hours.
  • Able to bend, stoop, or reach as needed.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry 30 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment with varying temperatures, including temperatures above 100° F.
