POSITION SUMMARY: The Safety Compliance Officer plays a crucial role in supporting various divisions to effectively instill a safety-oriented culture within local operations. This involves interpreting company policies, as well as federal and state regulations, and implementing safety programs that promote proactive and sustainable safety practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Facilitates regular safety meetings with drivers, shop personnel, landfill staff, office employees, and management to discuss safe operational practices.
  • Coordinates and engages in accident investigations and ensures proper follow-up reporting for the division.
  • Recommends corrective actions following accidents and incidents.
  • Ensures compliance with driver evaluations and re-evaluations as per company standards.
  • Administers and monitors drug testing policies to meet pre-employment, random, and post-accident testing requirements.
  • Ensures division managers and supervisors receive adequate training in health and safety regulations.
  • Maintains all accident registers, safety records, and driver certification files in accordance with federal and state requirements.
  • Conducts employee observations, inspections of premises and equipment, and periodic vehicle safety checks.
  • Visits sites to verify the accuracy of documentation and takes corrective action where necessary.
  • Participates in the investigation of serious accidents and injuries.
  • Provides accident data and reduction goals to division management.
  • Performs additional job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in an OSHA-regulated environment is preferred.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety-related role.
  • Valid driver's license.
