Position Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking qualified registered nurses to perform onsite evaluations and investigations at various healthcare facilities. This role involves conducting federal certification and validation surveys, as well as addressing complaints. Responsibilities include:

  • Executing state licensure inspections
  • Interpreting and applying federal and state regulations to assess compliance
  • Preparing comprehensive written reports based on survey findings

The primary focus of this position will be on home health agencies (HHA) and hospice programs, with additional responsibilities related to home care organizations (HCO). This role is home-based and requires travel across Virginia, necessitating the use of a personal vehicle until a state vehicle is assigned.

Key Responsibilities

As a licensed registered nurse, you will leverage your clinical expertise to:

  • Evaluate healthcare delivery in acute care settings
  • Assess health-related services for compliance with established laws and standards
  • Communicate findings effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Organize and manage travel schedules to meet reporting deadlines

Frequent travel with overnight stays may be required, and candidates must possess basic computer skills, including proficiency in word processing and email applications. A valid State Driver's License is essential for operating a state vehicle or personal vehicle for agency-related business.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must hold an active registered nurse (RN) license and have sufficient clinical experience to assess healthcare services. Additionally, candidates should be able to obtain medical clearance for fit testing in accordance with OSHA standards within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in conducting state or federal healthcare facility surveys or inspections is highly desirable.
