We provide immediate support services while also engaging in advocacy and community organizing to address interconnected issues such as homelessness, housing, immigration, and employment.
Program Insights:
The Mission Action Access Point aims to streamline services for individuals facing housing instability. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure that those experiencing homelessness are effectively identified, assessed, and matched with suitable housing options. By offering problem-solving and housing navigation services, we strive to reduce homelessness and facilitate transitions into safe and stable living environments.
Role Description:
The Housing Solutions Advisor plays a crucial role in preventing individuals from entering the Homelessness Response System by empowering them to explore and identify viable solutions outside of traditional shelter resources. This position involves providing personalized support and resources to individuals experiencing homelessness, collaborating closely with the Licensed Care Coordinator and Housing Navigators to ensure comprehensive service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments of individuals experiencing homelessness using standardized tools and referral protocols.
- Utilize a collaborative, client-centered, and trauma-informed approach to assist individuals in avoiding shelter entry by identifying innovative solutions.
- Analyze situations and barriers to develop effective problem-solving strategies.
- Engage clients in discussions to explore additional resources within their personal networks.
- Recognize the unique circumstances of each individual and support them in implementing immediate solutions.
- Provide crisis intervention support as necessary.
- Make prioritized referrals to housing programs based on client assessments.
- Conduct follow-ups to evaluate the effectiveness of problem-solving interventions.
- Maintain accurate records and enter necessary data into the system.
- Deliver professional, culturally relevant support and advocacy to program participants.
- Promote an integrated services team model focused on harm reduction and wellness.
- Act as a liaison to community-based and governmental service partners as needed.
- Participate in training, meetings, and development activities as directed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Organizational Responsibilities:
- Conduct business in alignment with the organization’s policies, exercising sound judgment in the best interests of the agency and community.
- Commit to treating all community members with respect and dignity.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of direct service experience in case management, counseling, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Bilingual (written and oral) in Spanish preferred.
- Experience in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and de-escalation techniques.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficient in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; familiarity with the relevant systems preferred.
- Understanding of the complexities surrounding homelessness, particularly in urban settings.
- Commitment to housing justice and inclusive programming.
