CorVel Corporation is seeking a compassionate, driven, and independent registered nurse to take on the role of Medical Case Manager. This position offers the flexibility of working from home and traveling locally.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday during standard business hours.

As a Medical Case Manager, you will play a vital role in enhancing the recovery journey of injured workers and their families. Your duties will involve close collaboration with injured individuals, their families, healthcare providers, and our dedicated team. This position requires significant local travel as you manage a caseload of workers' compensation cases within a specified area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Medical Case Management services through both in-person and telephonic interactions with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Leverage your medical expertise to review and discuss treatment plans with physicians, including alternative options.
  • Assess the appropriateness, medical necessity, and cost-effectiveness of patient treatment plans.
  • Conduct evaluations, planning, implementation, and monitoring of patient progress.
  • Participate in visits with doctors, healthcare providers, and, when necessary, attorneys.
  • Engage in discharge planning meetings at hospitals or long-term care facilities to ensure suitable care and develop effective long-term strategies.
  • Coordinate care by negotiating the provision of necessary medical equipment and nursing services.
  • Be prepared for local travel, which may constitute up to 60% of your work schedule, and occasional overnight travel as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and multitasking abilities in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience as a Registered Nurse or in Medical Case Management is preferred, with a clinical background in orthopedics, neurology, or rehabilitation being advantageous.
  • Capability to interact effectively with patients, healthcare providers, attorneys, and colleagues.
  • Background in cost containment, such as utilization review or managed care, is beneficial.
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office, including Excel.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.

Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current RN Licensure in the state of practice.
  • Preferred certifications include CCM, CIRS, or other relevant Case Management credentials.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to designated locations are essential.

Compensation:

CorVel utilizes a market-based compensation strategy, and salary ranges may vary based on location and other factors. Pay rates consider federal, state, and local minimum wage laws, geographic differentials, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions. Salary adjustments may occur based on the interview assessment.

Salary Range: $60,846 – $90,940
