This position offers flexibility with a combination of remote work and travel. The working hours are Monday to Friday during standard business hours.

As a Medical Case Manager, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the recovery journey of injured workers and their families. Your duties will involve close collaboration with injured individuals to support their rehabilitation. You will engage with the patient, their family, healthcare providers, and our internal team to ensure a coordinated approach to care. This position requires significant local travel as you manage a caseload of workers' compensation cases within a specified area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Medical Case Management services through both in-person and telephonic interactions with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Leverage your nursing expertise to evaluate and discuss treatment plans with healthcare providers.
  • Assess the appropriateness, medical necessity, and cost-effectiveness of treatment plans.
  • Conduct evaluations, planning, implementation, and monitoring of patient progress.
  • Participate in visits with healthcare providers, including home visits and consultations with attorneys when necessary.
  • Engage in discharge planning meetings at hospitals or long-term care facilities to determine suitable care options and develop effective long-term care strategies.
  • Facilitate the delivery of necessary medical equipment and nursing services.
  • This role requires local travel up to approximately 60% of the work week/month and may involve overnight travel.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience as a registered nurse or in medical case management is preferred, with a clinical background in orthopedics, neurology, or rehabilitation being advantageous.
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients, their healthcare providers, attorneys, and colleagues.
  • Background in cost containment, such as utilization review or managed care, is beneficial.
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office, including Excel.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of practice.
  • Preferred certifications include CCM, CIRS, or other relevant Case Management credentials.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are essential for travel to various locations.

Compensation and Benefits:

CorVel employs a market-based compensation strategy, and salary ranges may vary based on location and other factors. Pay rates are determined by federal, state, and local wage laws, geographic differentials, job-related skills, experience, and internal equity. The salary range for this position is $60,846 – $90,940.

Medical Case Managers are also eligible for bonuses and will receive state-of-the-art technology to facilitate access to CorVel's proprietary Case Management application.
