Job Summary

We are seeking an IT Security Engineer III to join our team in Houston, TX. This hybrid role will involve designing, building, and maintaining security solutions, security architectures, and technical security standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise in building and supporting security solutions to ensure effective operation and meet business needs.
  • Contribute to or lead the design, development, and implementation of countermeasures, systems integration, and tools specific to cyber and information technology operations.
  • Follow change control processes and execute technical improvements on a weekly basis.
  • Work independently to identify security risks and remedial actions.
  • Promote and design process improvements, automation, and risk reduction independently.
  • Provide engineering leadership during security incidents, processes, and escalations to determine the root cause and scope, and to effectively contain and remediate the incident.
  • Create documentation such as SOPs, How To's, and Process Training.
  • Execute vulnerability analysis of applications, operating systems, and networks, and provide recommendations of security controls to help prevent, detect, or mitigate security issues.
  • Support various cybersecurity monitoring and auditing activities.
  • Act as a mentor and/or educator to other team members.
  • Complete work in a timely manner with a high degree of quality.
  • Present all written communications in a professional format, using company-established templates, and free from formatting, grammar, and typographical errors.
  • Present information and knowledge with authority, authenticity, and integrity, in both verbal and written communications, without reliance on generative AI or search engine results.
  • Champion a positive team spirit and culture built on integrity, inclusion, transparency, and accountability.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 6 years of experience in cybersecurity.
  • Certification Requirement: CISSP, GSEC, GCED, or similar industry certifications.
  • Expert level proficiency with multiple cybersecurity technologies, such as Okta, Proofpoint, Tanium, CrowdStrike, Zscaler, BeyondTrust, or equivalent platforms.
  • Design, build, and run a security program, such as vulnerability management, endpoint security management, network security management, web security management, etc.
  • Expert level proficiency in troubleshooting and technical research.
  • Expert level proficiency and understanding of Windows and Linux security principles.
  • Expert level proficiency of security best practices, networking concepts, and system administration.
  • Able to learn new technologies quickly and acquire a level of expertise to confidently navigate and talk about those technologies.
  • High level of proficiency with Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • Expert level proficiency in technical writing and presentation, with the ability to provide timely, clear, and complete communication using technically accurate terminology.
  • Experience with programming and/or scripting.
Working Conditions
  • Travel: 10% or less.
  • Weekend/late night work if applicable: Occasionally.
  • Lifting/physical requirements: Regularly required to sit for long period, stand, walk, talk, and/or hear. Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
